Description
Ductless Mini Split Systems have found wide application in the arrangement of cooling systems in residential buildings, offices, commercial buildings, institutional buildings. Most often the System is installed in houses that are not equipped with a duct system, but which have hydronic heating system, radiant panels, and space heaters. Mini split is an excellent option for small rooms, outbuildings where there is no possibility to place central air-conditioner or heating systems.
Mini split systems typically include such components, as:
- an outdoor compressor/condenser
- a wall-mounted indoor air-handling unit.
Air circulates through the outdoor and indoor units.
Advantages of Mini Splits
- Compactness and flexibility for zoning are the most attractive advantages of the system;
- One of the benefits of the split system is that it’s properly designed for a specific space and will not steal air from other rooms or overload your previous HVAC system;
- Nice way to zoning your house and make everyone happy is to based mini splits with opportunity to regulate temperature of one’s own needs;
- The installation process is quite simple and doesn’t take as long time as arrangement of a new air duct;
- In contrast to the central air conditioner system, mini splits consume almost 30% less energy.
Types of Mini Splits
A single-zone ductless split system cools only one room, using one indoor and one outdoor units. This option can be used in areas (bedrooms or children's room) where is no duct, connected to the central system. In addition, it should be considered, that the capacity of the system should be sufficient for entire area of the room.
Multi-zone mini splits are similar to single ones, but they allow you to cool more rooms. Each indoor is connected by means of refrigeration lines to outdoor unit. You can zone your house
up to 4 areas thanks multi-zone system. This type of mini splits is widely used in commercial spheres, institutional or in large apartments.
Energy Efficiency
While choosing a system, pay attention to such an indicator as SEER rating. According to Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating of new mini splits must have a 13.00 SEER. One more efficient rating is Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER), which demonstrates energy usage per square foot of cooling room.
Buying a mini split system, compare these two factors and choose a more efficient model. It should be noted that replacing the air conditioner for more efficient will help save costs up to 30%!
